PRINT COMPETITION RULES
The categories are the same as our digital competitions - General, Nature, Creative, there is no Assigned category. For rules, see digital categories.
SUBMISSIONS
Each current member may submit up to 3 prints. Only one (1) print may be submitted in each category (General, Nature, Creative). Images entered into digital competitions may NOT be entered into print competition. Members must submit a digital copy of their submission two weeks prior to the competition to be included in the club website - karenlund@aol.com .
Submissions must be labeled in the upper right hand corner of the back of the image.
Label must include:
Maker’s Name
Category
Title of Image
No markings that might identify the maker should appear on the front of the image. This includes graphics, logos, names, etc.
Nothing can protrude from either side of the image that would damage other images when they are stacked (waiting to be shown to the judges).
MINIMUM SIZE is 8”x10” and MAXIMUM SIZE is 16”x20”, including mounting.
Maximum size of mounting material is 16”x20”.
Prints must be securely mounted on sturdy material such as foam core or mat board.
*Prints may not be matted or framed, nor should the image have any covering such as glass.
During the intake, we assign a unique number to each image, write that number on the label and enter the information on the list which will be used by the scorekeepers.
A DIGITAL COPY of the PRINT image must be submitted on this web site to the Image of the Year Competition.
AWARDS
In each category there will be First, Second and Third Place as well as Honorable Mentions.
JUDGING
Viewing distance for judging will be 6 feet from the image.
Scoring is on a basis of 9 points: three (3) for technical merit, three (3) for composition and three (3) for impact from each of the three judges. Impact is the viewer’s initial response to an image and is the WOW! factor. Based on these criteria, each judge is free to give a total score from 1 to 9. The total score is cumulative and thus the best possible score is 27.
